Canada Day 2015: Thank You!

Once again, New Hamburg showed that it knows how to celebrate Canada's birthday. Canada Day 2015 was a big success, and the Board of Trade's contribution was only possible due to the efforts of a great many people. So, thank you to:

  • Cheryl Gordijk, for acting as the Board's representative on the Canada Day committee. The committee, under Tina Broda's leadership, did a remarkable job of ensuring the event went as smoothly as possible, especially after so much adverse weather in the days leading up to July 1.
  • New Hamburg Lion, Paul Mackie, put up the tent early in the morning, ready for our volunteers. Several members were amongst those volunteers, including John and Betty Ritz (New Hamburg Office Pro), Dave Heyer (Heritage Pet & Garden) and Steve Wagler (Josslin Insurance). Also lending a hand were members of Wilmot's Youth Action Council: Lacey Smith and Jake Ziegler. Nigel and Cheryl Gordijk sold duck race tickets in the community centre during the Nith Valley Mennonite Church Canada Day brunch.
  • New Hamburg's volunteer firefighters - including Board member, Nils Fabian (Computer Concepts) - erected the fence in the Nith River to catch the rubber ducks. They also coralled the ducks at the race's finish line. Tyson Wagler and Brieanna Wagler lent a hand, too.

Thank you all for your help. None of our efforts would have been possible without you.
