New Hamburg Board of Trade Executive Meeting
February 10, 2010
Present: Paul Knowles, Tom Hinz, Deb Myers, Doug Brenneman, Chris Spotswood, Steve Wagler, Nick Cressman, Nigel Gordijk, Meredith Hagen
Regrets: Tim Bender, Kristen Hahn, Dietmar Walch
1) Minutes of January executive meeting and January general meeting were approved, with one amendment -- Deb Myers is also a member of the Advertising Committee. Moved Tom Hinz; 2nd by Nigel Gordijk that the minutes be accepted. Carried.
2) Nigel and Paul presented details of the need for upgraded phone and internet service, a new computer, and credit card capacity. It was moved by Meredith Hagen, seconded by Tom Hinz, that Nigel Gordijk and Paul Knowles be authorized to move forward on purchasing communication equipment and services not to exceed $2000 including yearly expenses. Carried.
3) There was discussion of the Board sponsoring a public "Meet the candidates" meeting related to the 2010 municipal election. Paul Knowles declared a conflict of interest on any planning for such an event. An organizing committee was formed including Steve Wagler, Deb Myers and Meredith Hagen
4) The executive considered a request for funding from the Forest Glen "Random Acts of Kindness" program. It was moved by Chris Spotswood, seconded by Nike Cressman, that we take no action. Carried, one abstention.
5) Related to item 4, it was suggested that down the road we create a donation policy for the New Hamburg Board of Trade.
6) It was noted that the executive has not had much feedback concerning reinstatement of a New Hamburg Bucks program, so no action was taken.
7) The Board of Trade will renew its membership in the Waterloo Region Tourism Marketing Corporation.
8) The meeting adjourned.
